R&B superstar Andre Stephens (Deitrick Haddon) is on top of the world. He has success, fame, and fortune but spiritually he has lost his way. However, his "perfect" life is shattered when his entourage is brutally attacked, leaving Andre and his best friend Chris Johnson (Robert Ri'chard) clinging to life. On a spiritual journey that exists in a place that is neither on Earth nor in Heaven, Andre is given the opportunity to reevaluate his life and his faith

Haddon launched his solo career as a Christian R&B vocalist with the Lost & Found on Tyscot/Verity in 2002. The set peaked at #1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Charts[1] and received wide critical acclaim and spawned the hit "Sinner's Prayer" which received heavy spins on gospel and mainstream R&B radio stations.

The 70's-leaning Crossroads followed in 2004, led off by the upbeat single "God Is Good". In an uncharacteristic move for marketing a gospel album, Detrick made an appearance on the long-running syndicated series Soul Train performing the single as well as the title track from the album.

Haddon is now the Pastor at Detroit's Kingdom Culture Church, taking over from his father.

Please check out our interview with Detrick and be sure to check out the movie as well.

Arlington’s Jamell Fleming prepares for the 2012 NFL Draft

Arlington: Jamell Fleming like most kids of today dream of playing in the NFL on Sunday’s. If you ask Jamell’s father coach Ralph Fleming on where his son would be playing, it would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. However his mother Sharon wants him to play for a winning organization and be injury free. One thing that they all agree on is giving God all the glory for Jamell’s for his talent. As a young child growing up in Arlington Jamell was the high school ball boy that made sure the official would have the game ball ready during the game. This was a great opportunity for him to study the game and watch some of the players that his father coached at Abilene Cooper, and Arlington Martin.
During his high school days at Arlington Seguin Jamell became a star and lead his team to the playoffs during his Junior and Senior year. There were several division I colleges and university’s that wanted Jamell. Since his mother and father were from Oklahoma and they attended college at East Central in Ada, Oklahoma. His mother Sharon was a Sooner fan and Jamelle Holloway was the QB during the late 80’s. So Jamell decided that he would take his talent to the University of Oklahoma.
As you know the Sooners were very deep in talent in every position, Fleming goal was to pass his classes and to stay on the team. His first year was okay because he was red shirted. His sophomore year was very interesting. He became a father and was just trying to stay in school and get a spot on the specialty team,. He later was removed from the team because of the pressure. Once again his mother told him that he was going to get himself together and get back on the team. So Jamell enrolled in a local community college and got his grade together and talked with Coach Bob Stoops about returning to the team.
That next season Jamell found himself back in school and on the kickoff team. He ended up being the best special team player that earned him a spot as the starting cornerback. During his junior season he was the defensive player of the bowl game in Arizona against Connecticut in the Fiesta Bowl. During his senior year against Texas at the Cotton Bowl he stripped a Longhorn receiver of a pass and returned it for an interception. Once again he was in Arizona at the Insights Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes. On the first series of the game Jamell intercepted the ball and set up the Sooners opening game touchdown. The outcome of the game came down to another defensive play from #32 Jamell Fleming. Once again he was selected as the Defensive player of the game.
Jamell has left his college career at the University of Oklahoma as one of the best DB in Sooner history. On this weekend he will be waiting on the phone to ring for the announcement of a 1st round or 2nd round draft pick in the NFL. Whatever the Lord say’s Jamell will be ready to go and he thanks his parents for being at his side during his football career. The draft will begin this Thursday evening from New York City.

Rangers win over Yankees and Michael Young honor by Negro League

On Tuesday night Gordon Jackson and I had the opportunity to speak with Michael Young. He share with us about his visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., five years ago and meeting the late Buck O'Neil. It was a special tour for Young as he learned about baseball history that most might not know about.

"I had an absolute blast," Young said. "To get an opportunity to learn about the complete history of the game is something every baseball player should try and do. I had a great time going and hopefully I get a chance to go back."

That experience gave Young a greater appreciation for being presented the museum's 2011 John Henry "Pop" Lloyd Award for baseball and community leadership.

Manager Ron Washington also received an award from the museum, the 2011 Charles Isham "C.I." Taylor Award for American League manager of the year. Museum president Bob Kendrick presented the awards to Young and Washington before Tuesday's game against New York.

Meanwhile Rangers Pitcher Yu Darvish is getting better each time out for the Texas Rangers.

The Japanese standout may already be getting to a point when he will have a hard time topping himself, after striking out 10 and pitching into the ninth inning of a 2-0 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

"After my last start, I mentioned my command is starting to come together. Stuff-wise, there wasn't much difference," Darvish said through his interpreter. "I still like to think that there's still more in me."

Ian Kinsler put the Rangers ahead to stay when he led off the first with a deep homer to left center off Hiroki Kuroda (1-3), who limited Texas to two runs and five hits over 6 2-3 innings.

In only his fourth major league start, and the seventh-ever MLB matchup of Japanese starters, Darvish (3-0) worked out of some early jams and got through 8 1-3 scoreless innings even while allowing seven hits.

Effective with his large array of pitches, including a fastball in the upper 90s and several biting breaking balls, the 25-year-old right-hander had a season-low two walks, and the 10 strikeouts were the most by a Texas pitcher this season.

"He just keeps getting better every time he takes the ball. Tonight, he used everything he had, and he was effective, very effective. He's getting more and more comfortable," manager Ron Washington said. "He was pounding the strike zone. That's what you have to do against that team. He threw everything but the kitchen sink at them."

Washington was going to give him a chance to finish the game but pulled Darvish after Nick Swisher's one-out single on his 119th pitch, his 82nd strike.

Joe Nathan needed only one pitch to coax a game-ending double-play grounder by Raul Ibanez. It was his fifth save in six chances, closing out the Rangers' first shutout victory over the Yankees since Aug. 16, 2000.

Tuesday night is a big night for the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls.

Boston visits the Heat on Tuesday, and then Miami packs up for a trip to Chicago on Thursday in a pair of playoff rematches from last spring. The defending East champion Heat lost by 19 at Boston last week, and trailed by as many as 17 - with Derrick Rose sitting out, no less - in what wound up as a 106-102 loss at Chicago on March 14.

Miami enters the game against the Celtics trailing Chicago by two games in the East race, although the margin is only one in the loss column. Nothing short of historic collapse would cause the Heat to slip lower than No. 2 in the East, and even though the Bulls have led the conference chase for more than a month, the No. 1 seed is still potentially within Miami's reach.

Meanwhile Chicago Bulls point guard, Derrick Rose, injured his right ankle against the Knicks on Sunday, and it will be a game-time decision on whether he will play tonight, according to ESPN.

“It was something I knew was big,” Rose said. “Where in the fourth quarter, that’s why I was walking the ball up the majority of the time. I wasn’t running because of the throbbing; I was just trying to win the game and it definitely hurts losing the game and definitely have to sit out this game if I do choose to play or choose not to play. It’s definitely going to hurt. That game hurt a lot.”

“Right now, every day it’s getting better,” Rose said. “I got a lot of treatment [Monday], coming back in this morning. Every day, every treatment, it’s getting better.”

Rose has missed a big chunk of the season, missing 12 games prior to the Knicks game with a groin injury. The league’s most recent MVP has said that the injuries are keeping him from getting into a rhythm where he can be consistently effective this year.

Dallas defeat’s the San Antonio Spurs a the AAC with 106 to 99 win

Cedric Bailey and Kendall Duffie

Dallas: The Battle for the Southwest division took place at the American Airlines Center on this past Saturday night. Both teams were coming off some key wins during the week. The Mavericks defeated the Washington Bullets and the Charlotte Bobcats and San Antonio had wins over the Orlando Magic and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Mr. Kendall Duffie, was our guest this week from Nashville, Tenn. Had the opportunity to attend the game with me over the weekend. We had the opportunity to talk with both coaches Rick Carlisle and Gregg Popovich to find out their teams plans on winning the division.

Meanwhile San Antonio made the short hop from Oklahoma City on Friday night following one of their best road victories of the season. It was the location of former Spur Stephen Jackson met the team in Dallas after being acquired in a Thursday trade, getting a refresher course on Spurs basketball. The outcome of Jackson’s first game in silver and black since Game 6 of the 2003 Finals was a 106-99 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. It’s the Spurs’ first road loss since Feb. 21, when Portland beat them by 40 the last time they played the second game of a back-to-back.
This time, there was no blowout with Spurs starters sitting out to rest overworked bodies. Down as many as 14 in the fourth quarter, the Spurs were within six after a Danny Green 3-pointer with 1:52 left and had a chance to cut it to three 20 seconds later when Manu Ginobili launched a 3-pointer.
The San Antonio Spurs showed signs of fatigue from a hard fought battle in Oklahoma City on Friday night where the Spurs edged the Western Conference's number one seed getting big contributions from Parker who poured in 24 points and a season high 19 rebounds from Duncan who also contributed 16 points.

The Dallas Mavericks who were off on friday night took full advantage of the weary Spurs with big contributions from Nowitzki who went for 27 and Jason Terry adding 17. The Mavericks jumped out to an early lead and had a big edge in 2nd chance points to hold their conference rivals off and take an impressive home win.

This match up could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals...We had the opportunity to speak with Spurs coach Popovich who didn't seem to worried by Saturday’s loss and has his sights on the soon to come post season where the Spurs look to go deep this year with hopes of a 5th and final title for Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs.
In closing there were a lot of the good things that happened for the Spurs (29-14) in Oklahoma City went bad against the Mavericks (26-20). Dallas has another tough week with a Monday match up vs. the Denver Nuggets, Wednesday vs. the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio on Friday night in San Antonio. The Spurs are off until Wednesday when they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Be sure to check out our podcast with the players at www.baileycedric.podomatic.com or www.lavidanews.com

Lador Frank shares the latest news in the gospel industry every Wednesday and Friday with Cedric Bailey on Rejoice Musical Soul Food. This week report is about the loss of Whitney Houston.

Gospel Singer Kim Burrell shared the following statement about their relationship.

Burrell and Houston were supposed to attend Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party together before the 48-year old singer was found dead in her bathtub on Feb. 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for reasons not yet known.

The last time Burrell heard Houston's voice was on Saturday when the megastar left a voicemail message, eagerly awaiting her good friend's arrival in California.

"She left a message at about 2 o'clock. She said 'Kimi, where are you? I need to see you. Call me back. And when I did try to call her back there was no more and it doesn't feel good. It will never feel good."

During the message, Burrell said she could hear Gospel music playing in the background and Houston sounded like her typical happy self.

"She was in great spirits, she was singing," the pastor noted. "I was on my way to see her and I ended up going to the hotel but I was a little too late."

When asked if it sounded like Houston needed to talk to her about something in particular, Burrell believed that her comment was not necessarily saying anything, but that she just wanted to hug and see her friend.

"She loved me dearly and I loved her and we just wanted to see each other and hug each other and love each other."

The two friends performed a duet together last year at BET's Celebration of Gospel, singing Houston's hit song "I Look to You."

After the performance, Houston called Burrell that night and said, "Kim, I needed to do that. It felt good. And I thank God that we had an opportunity to do it together."

The Grammy-award singer then flew to Burrell's home in Houston where they watched the performance over and over again as if they had never seen it before.
As they continued to replay the song, Houston said, "Look at God. Listen to God. Look at God on us."

"We shared that moment in my living room," Burrell recalled.

Phillips asked Burrell why it was so difficult for people like Houston who struggled with addiction to hold on to a spiritual power and beat their demons.

"You know demonic forces are strong and they are persistent and consistent and every day the word of the Lord declares that we have a struggle with our flesh and our spirit," The Love Album singer responded.

"It's a constant battle but today the Lord woke me up in Psalm 46 and said 'God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in times of trouble' and I saw God be that for [Houston] ... very present in the time of trouble for her."

"Whitney was an amazing person and she had such a heart for music and the world," Burrell concluded. "She was the absolute best and I will love her forever."

In closing, We all know someone that is struggling with some addict problems. Let us continue to keep them uplifted in prayer.
